This project serves to explore different boundary conditions found in nature. It began with the study of several images of oceans, rivers, and wetland conditions. Sketches were turned into vector drawings, which became the basis for the forms of 3D models. Each step of the process had a heavy emphasis on overlap, creating numerous boundary and intersection conditions.
The final model investigates what unique conditions could be created without the addition of new geometry. The midterm model grew into the final by way of stretching, cutting, and rearranging, but never adding or subtracting. Despite the linear narrative of their creation, the two models are nearly unrecognizable as formal relations. The final form, with its numerous weaving cavities and tunnels, became an underwater observation structure, doubling as a hydro-electric plant for water filtration and monitoring.
